This collection contains digitised films from the estate of Ichiro Shiino (1915-1998), a prominent photographer/videographer/artist in the Arrow Lakes region. From his arrival in the West Kootenay from Vancouver Island in 1943 as part of the forced internment of Japanese Canadians to the region, through his four-plus decades working for the regional forestry giant Celgar while contributing works to various newspapers and magazines, until his passing, Shiino documented the region through photographs and Super 16 film. 20 reels of colour silent film were preserved from his estate and digitised for viewing here. For access to the ALHS' collection of Shiino's photographs, see https://alhs-archives.com/creator/ichiro-shiino/.
