The Cheerio Club was comprised of a group of women living in Armstrong BC in the early 1900s whose motto was “a merry heart doeth good like a medicine." The club started when Mrs. Simington, a warm and kindly person, asked a few friends if they would go with her to cheer up Mrs. Sugden who was ill. The idea spread like wildfire and a small group of women decided to form an official club to cheer those in need up. An important part of every meeting was the selection of people the ladies felt would enjoy or benefit from a cheery message.
