The Kootenay Weekly Express was a community newspaper founded in 1988 in Nelson, BC. It was published weekly until February, 2011. Formerly named What’s On from November 1988 – November 1989, What’s On Magazine from December 1989 – September 1990, Kootenay Weekly Express from October 1990 until 1993, and ending as The Express from 1994 until 2011. Nelson Becker, publisher and editor of the newspaper, maintained this publication in independence from larger media conglomerates. Digitized coverage includes 1988-February 2011.
