The Fernie Free Press traces its roots back to early August in 1898 when brothers G.G. and R.L. Henderson arrived in Fernie. After assessing the opportunities, the brothers traveled east to gather the plant and stock necessary to produce a newspaper and the first issue of the Fernie Free Press appeared in 1899.
