Hi everyone! My name is Mari Allison, and I recently started a graduate co-op with the B.C. Regional Digitized History project. I am currently a dual MLIS and MAS student at the University of British Columbia. I’m very excited to work with this project because I have an interest in community based libraries. In my first few weeks, I’ve had a wonderful time learning more about the Okanagan region, and I can’t wait to visit once it's safe to do so!
Hello, British Columbia History enthusiasts! My name is Sarah Ulicny, and I am currently working as the Graduate Archival Assistant with the Digitized Okanagan History Project. Hi y'all! My name is Emily Homolka, and I am midway through my Master’s of Library and Information Studies degree at the University of British Columbia’s Vancouver campus. I will be working with DOH over the summer as a CO-OP student, and will be in this position until the end of August.
Hi! My name is Maria Paz Marengo Di Bez and I just joined the Digitized Okanagan History team. I am an international first-year Management student at UBC Okanagan. I believe this is an amazing opportunity not only for the ones involved in the program but also for the community, as it generates greater accessibility to historical records. On a personal level, I hope this will allow me to develop various skills, such as those related to History, while also helping me become more proficient with technology, which is an asset for my career.
Hello! My name is Rhiannon Wallace, and I am a Master's student in Archival Studies and Library and Information Studies at the University of British Columbia's Vancouver campus.
Hi! My name is Eloise and I’m entering the second year of my B.A in computer science at UBC-O. Before moving to the Okanagan, I lived in France for 18 years and built robots. Although digital humanities is not directly related to my degree, digitizing materials will probably increase my computer fluency and develop my problem-solving skills which are both great skills to have for the future. I joined the team in September and have been scanning materials for various Okanagan repositories and museums for the project. Currently, I am scanning photograph albums for Sicamous.
Hi! I’m Dom Imnamkhao and I recently joined the Digitized Okanagan History team. I am a 4th Year International student from Thailand and I’m currently majoring in International Relations at UBC Okanagan. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of an International Relations major, one of the few subjects I focus on is history, so I feel that this is a great hands-on experience with primary documents that allow us to learn and understand our history.
My name is Sabrina Cui and I recently joined the Okanagan Special Collections team as a undergraduate student assistant. I am currently attending the University of British Columbia at the Okanagan campus as a fourth year psychology major. With my academic background, I am very interested in the accessibility of archival materials to the general public. I have always been intrigued by the preservation and restoration of archival materials. I hope this unique oppurtunity will allow me to develop and integrate my current understanding of aspects pertaining to digitization.
Hello all! My name is Kayla Hilstob and I have recently joined the Digitized Okanagan History team.
This summer, I completed my Master of Library and Information Studies at UBC Vancouver. My role in this project is to research and plan how we may include local historic newspapers in the DOH project. I will be exploring what’s out there, and how we may work with our partners to digitize and make it publicly available on this site.
My name is Jennifer and I am a graduate student at the University of British Columbia (UBC) Vancouver campus in the Master’s of Library and Information Sciences program at the iSchool.
