It rained that night but the following morning had cleared somewhat so we decided to make the ascent to Blue Lake, which lies about 1500 feet above the camp directly under the cone of Mt. Fraser. Crossing Fraser Creek, the water of Blue Lake was an intense dark blue in colour and was dotted with "Islands" of snow which had become detached from the surrounding snow banks. This snow would all melt before the end of summer but higher up the raw edge of a glacier was in sight and this would never entirely melt away. Image located on pg. 55 of the Shuswap Country Album.
