(041) The old dam

Excerpt from page 20 of "B.C.'s Inland Empire" by Erskine Burnett associated with this image: Just below the outlet of the lake the old dam stretched across the river and held back a considerable volume of water. Here the logs from the timber berths round the lake were collected before being driven down the river. Here also it was proposed to develop power sufficient to electrify a long stretch of the main line of the C.P.R. A glance will show that the water power is there but for some reason the project fell though. Nearby is an ideal spot for camping or picnicking - well shaded and close to the water. This dam has recently been removed to provide free access to the lake for spawning salmon.
