Peters\xef\xbe\x92 Lake lies at an elevation of 5200 feet under the shadow of Mt. Fraser, the summit of which is 8900 feet above sea level. From the east end of the lake up the valley of Ryan Creek, there stretches for several miles a series of natural meadows, each at a slightly higher elevation than the one preceding it and it was up this valley that we proceeded on foot, leaving the horses feeding on the flat by the lake.
