Mr. George Middleton Gibson was born Nov. 28, 1880 in the renowned Nottingham, England. In 1904 he came to B.C. with M.P. Williams of Winfield. in 1906 George bought 45 acres of land at Cussasonyx (Paradise Point). In 1913 he married Ms. Grace Chapman and together they had 2 children, Pamela Rose and Joan. He joined the Canadian Army (172 Battalion) in 1916 and was trained at the Vernon Army Camp. He was then transferred to the British Army (122nd Northumberland and Fusiliers). On Sept. 5 1918 he became on of Germany's POW's and was held near Ille in France before being sent to East prussia. In 1919 his family repatriated to Canada while George was in poor health and his farm in poor condition. In later years he converted farm from fruit to mixed farming cows, chickens, and soft fruits. He was a fruit grower until his death in 1950.
