The Winfield and Ellison sawmills were portable and not part of S.M. Simpson Ltd. although they were owned, sometimes in partnership, by S.M. Simpson. By 1930, S.M. Simpson's involvement in the portable sawmills was largely over, as by then he was building the sawmill at Manhattan Point. Note from back of photo reads: "1925 Winfield. Driver?"
